VIRGIN ATLANTIC TAKES OFF WITH NEW LONDON CAB CAMPAIGN

Virgin Atlantic Airways is once again painting Cape Town red with four eye-catching, newly-branded, London Cabs making their presence known on the citys roads. The new London Cabs are the third branded cab installation for the international airline, having also branded Mini Cab vehicles for two previous campaigns. Created and implemented by vehicle branding and transit media specialists, Graffiti, the new vehicles have been branded in the traditional Virgin Atlantic red and have been specifically designed to highlight the popular non-stop Cape Town to London route, whilst at the same time also drawing attention to Virgins London to New York flights.

The new creative execution is based upon the tagline "Non-Stop to London and On to New York" which features prominently on both the front and the back of the vehicles. This is complemented by visuals on the sides of the vehicles which depict the London skyline on one side and the New York skyline on the other. To further reinforce the airlines message, the interior flip seats of the London Cabs have also been branded with the tongue-in-cheek line, "Were Keeping Your Seat Warm."

Commenting on the new branded London Cabs, Virgin Atlantic Airlines Marketing Manager, Samantha Theron says, "The branded cabs have proven to be an extremely cost-effective and impactful outdoor medium for Virgin Atlantic in Cape Town. The vehicles have been most successful at attracting the attention of international travellers around the airports, hotels and other tourist hotspots, largely due to their high mobility, but also due to the brand recognition that comes with the Virgin Atlantic brand."

Graffiti Managing Director, John Rice adds, "Virgin Atlantic has over the last few years become synonymous with the red branded cab around Cape Town. By sticking with their Virgin red background, theyve taken ownership of this look and really made the medium work for them. Everyone recognises and knows the brand, largely due to the great amount of exposure these vehicles gain on the citys roads."

Having commenced their branded cab advertising with Graffiti in 2009, Virgin Atlantic have since expanded their cab advertising onto the African continent and recently also branded 10 cabs in Ghana. Explains Samantha, "The cab medium manages to generate interest and awareness for the Virgin Atlantic brand in all the right places. It is attention-grabbing, impactful and a rather fun and alternative outdoor advertising approach - and that is certainly also in keeping with the Virgin brand. So were happy to go with cabs wherever the airline might be!"
